Remembering Carissa
Dear C28 Faithful prayer warriors,
This message comes to you with great joy to let you know that our Make- A-Wish girl, Carissa Fluke, went home to be with the Lord. Carissa passed away in the presence of her entire family and youth pastor in her San Diego hospital room on Friday November 28th at about 1:00pm. Her youth pastor walked in the room, she looked at him, he sat down and her mom gave her a kiss on the forehead to let her know it was okay to go home. The angels sang and the Lord welcomed her into heaven. There is no more pain where she is and she is now watching over all of us.
We all grew to fall in love with this precious little girl that had a smile that lit up the world. The outpouring of support and love for Carissa, her mom Lisa, and her entire family was nothing short of amazing.
We cannot thank you enough from the bottom of our hearts for loving this little girl, taking her into your home, your church, your small groups and praying for her. The Lord was glorified by our acts of faith and obedience in prayer. It was Carissa's time and we know that her presence here on this earth made a difference. Please continue to pray for her family as they will be missing Carissa for a lifetime, but look forward to spending eternity with her.
Carissa, we love you and celebrate you!
Lisa, Carissa's mom, wrote a little something for you in remembrance of Carissa below.
From LISA HARDINGE:
When I think of Carissa I will always remember her smile. I remember how at Christmas she would open one present and she was done. She had all she wanted. We would spend the rest of the day coaxing her into opening the rest. No matter how much she liked her presents, she would try to give them to everyone else. She would come home crying because someone had been mean to her at school and she couldn't wait to call them to apologize for whatever she had done. She couldn't lie. If I said her name she would break down in tears and confess immediately. This is only part of what made Carissa so special. I am truly honored to have been her mother.
I know that she has touched all of your lives as well. I can never explain how your letters and prayers touched our lives during the last part of Carissa's journey. Words are not enough. I am so happy that each of you got to share that special time. Thank you for your prayers and love. Know that they were answered. She is now healed. She is no longer in pain. She found the beautiful peace she longed for. She smiles down upon us all. She was so strong in spirit and body. I would like to share some of her thoughts from her journal with each of you:
"I had a good life because I had people that really loved and cared for me."
"I don't want to meet a celebrity while I'm bald because I don't want them to feel sorry for me."
"I wish everyone could get along and think of each other."
I hope I have the opportunity to touch as many people as she did in her short time here.
Forever Carissa's Mom,
Lisa Hardinge

Rest In Peace Little Sister. I cant wait to see you in heaven.
Love Bobby
Thank you for posting this story.
What a great witness to your faith.
Awesome that you had support from your church and that the youth pastor there for support.
I have fallen away some years ago, when we had no support from the local church where my parents lived, where we watched my dad take his last breath, with no one from the church there to call him, check on him, visit him, and especially, my mom. When I left back to California, she was left there to suffer his loss alone.
Yes, she is a believer and she had God there, but even Jesus, the God Man Himself, needed his friends (Who fell asleep!) the night before his crucifiction.
So it's refreshing to see a church that does the Will of God based on His teachings in the bible. The Lord is slowly calling me back. Reading testimonials as strong as this, leads me in the right direction. I am sorry by your loss, and encouraged by your faith.

Absoultely beautiful post about a beautiful girl. Thank you....rest wonderfully in his prescence.
God Be with You Always,
We were blessed (as so many others)that you shared your family with us. Today my family knows your sadness and feels the joy that your beautiful Carissa is in the company of my our Lord Jesus, and Parents who went to be with our Lord not long ago.
What a wonderous God we have that can take our sadness and turn it into a time of awesome blessings, as in Caarissas' time here. Jesus came into all our lives knowing how this one little girl would change so many and bring them to Him.
Once God knew she had done her work here, he then took her home, because God does not wish any of His children to suffer. So today He we can remember how He has been able to teach us how real He is thru the unending love Carissa had for Him, and how she shared that love with so many others.
No gift is greater than that.
God Bless You All, we share your sadness as well as your peace. A Bright New Light will go on our tree this year in memory of Carrissa

Carissa, the smile and heart that the whole world fell in love with. Dance with your heavenly Father sweet Carissa, dance with your long beautiful hair. Reunite with your earthly Father and make up for lost time. Carissa you taught me so much, so much to so many others and you never even knew the half of it. When I look to the stars and see the shiniest one, I will know that it is you. Praise the Lord that your shine is the same as your mom and she is here for me to love even though you are gone. I am glad that you are able to look down and see the impact that you have had. Everyday when the sun comes out I will know that it shines a little brighter because your smile is in the sky!
From BenLee's Cafe:
Stories like ours are meant to be told, to make "His Name" known! We also suffered loss 3 years ago when our son took his own life...I do understand very deeply the loss you are feeling, however, we were blessed to have them for as long as we did...and praise the Lord, our children had a living and active faith in the Lord...what a peace that brings to us when we are missing them so terrible, especially during the holidays. Be encouraged, dear ones, that this loss you suffer, ain't for nothin', Romans 8:28 says "All things work for good for those who love the Lord." And they do. We have seen wondrous miraculous signs and wonders since Lee's death. But the true miracle is that Lee knew the Lord from the time he was 6, and had a true relationship with him. The circumstances surrounding his death are not important, what is important, is that we encourage one another to fight the good fight of faith, and not let this loss we bear define who we are in Christ, and that, we will continue pressing on and make this thing count for something. Our God is an awesome God. We cannot control what happens to us in this life, but we can control how we react to it. Let us "make His Name known"...and look forward to the day when there will be no more tears...
Debbie

I know we had something in common and that was loving our Savior! I wish I could have met Carissa! I prayed for her every night! I am still praying for the family and all the friends that lost an amazing girl!!!!
God Bless
I cannot thank you enough for sharing Carissa's story with us. Our God is such an awesome and powerful God, that sometimes we just don't understand why He allows certain things to take place in our lives. My family in Christ, I don't know what else I can do but to encourage you in the Lord. His way is perfect in ALL circumstances, and when we choose to submit to His will as His humble servants, my friend, He will guide us continually. His grace is sufficient. Be strong and of good courage!!!!
Wow, what a faithful, beautiful girl Carissa is. God must have missed her so much and needed her home. I'm so glad to hear that she is now without pain and suffering and with our glorious maker. May she rest in peace and be there to welcome her loved ones once they go home. God bless!
I miss you more and more every day and cant wait to see you again.
Rest in Peace Carissa.
